Thread: Cubivore Propagates on Store Shelves

  1. Cubivore Propagates on Store Shelves

Art mirrors evolution with the release of Cubivore for the Nintendo GameCube.

In it, you play as an organism born into a visually surreal world where you must influence your development by selecting your mate, killing prey, and taking advantage of various enhancement items.

There are 100 possible combinations in building the perfect beast, meaning there are up to 99 other beasts to subjugate. Traits pass to succeeding generations, and the goal is for your genes to claw their way to the top of the food chain.

This started out as "Animal Leader" for the Nintendo 64, but that's not necessarily the reason for its blocky look. The style is truly strange, but don't let this one fly under your radar. Head to Atlus.com
and have a look.

  2. judging from the graphics, I'll say this game looks like it was a leftover project from the FXchip era.
But of course everyone here knows its really about gameplay, huh

  3. I thought it was all about box art.

  4. Blocky look to a game? Fine. Clealy an N64 port.

Muddy textures that are painful to the eye? Not acceptible. I'll pass on this one.

  5. Well, the team said they developed the game for the GC version with the block graphics specifically in, so as to have no focus on the graphics at all.

I'm thinking of picking this up today...

  6. Cubivore looks interesting but it's nothing I'd pay full price for. I think I might give it a rental or pick it up when it becomes cheap.

  7. Any word on the gameplay?

The Gamespot review is up and it was actually very informative. I suggest you check it out if you're even remotely interested in Cubivore.
