PC Games more Addicting than Console Games?

My longest gaming sessions tend to be PC games as well, but it has more to do with the kind of games. My longest gaming sessions are usually PC strategy games like Civ 2, Europa Universalis, Pharoah, etc... It's just the nature of those games that can go on forever I think...

I can get just as addicted to console games though.. maybe even more so, generally speaking.

I'd say it's good to have the variety of different kinds of games to play. I find PC games a nice change of pace, even if I generally prefer the console.

yea...PC games are crazy-addictive. Ive never been that big on them, but when I have a new one...well i dont stop playing. Classic examples are : wolfenstein 3-d, doom, CIV2!!!!, starcraft and diablo. I want to get some more and i think next will be WC3, but now its time for some Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Peace.

One thing that I think accounts for the addictiveness of PC games is the ability to save whenever you want. It makes it so no matter how difficult the game is you can always squeeze a little further.

I'm just the opposite, I hate PC gaming because of the nature of it, consoles are just more fun to play with, I can relax more while playing a console, ect. There have been PC games that held my attention for hours on end (mostly RTS games and Doom) but it's not at all unusual for me to play a console game for hours on end, it's actually common. When I get a new console game that I really like I almost exclusively play it in multi hour bursts. The thing that bothers me most about PC gaming is the patch mentality, that developers commonly release unfinished games and then patches to fix them later. Unacceptable.

It's better than releasing unfinished games with no fix available, like many console developers.

I think 98% of console games don't have crippling problems like PC games do.

Worst offender I can think of in recent memory is Morrowind.

Other than that I haven't encountered any serious problems in years.

Come on dude there's not even a comparison, good console games almost never have crippling bugs and glitches, wheras tons of good PC games do.

This is weird.

I totally disagree with the idea that PC games are inherently more addictive than console games due to their setup. I honestly dispise the keyboard/mouse hook-up and prefer to sit in front of a television instead of monitor. Also, certain console games have extremely addictive qualities to them (Tetris, Street Fighter) to me, at least.

On the other hand, a lot of my binge gaming experiences have been with the PC. Hours go by after playing any of the civilization games. Or C&C. Or those point and click adventure games. I will spend five hours average on a PC game but an hour on a console game.

This doesn't make sense; console games don't allow you to save anywhere, so sparodic play wouldn't necessarily pay off.

Eheh, nah, I used to play Counter-strike, when it first came out (it was one of the last games I was into before I stopped playing PC games entirely). It's good, but, right now I'm just happy to play NOLF's single player mode...so good. The humor is good, the challenge is great, amazing textures and frame rate...the cinematics are way too long (the pacing could use some help), but the content is neat.
