No, they don't have it working for any other console -- unless the dev team left secret LAN config areas in the other versions, it won't work. You also have to know the IP of the other player, there's no central server or anything.
Actually, it's a network tunneling thing. That technique's been applied to games since Kali for DOS/Windows came out years ago for LAN-play over the Internet. Xbox owners picked it up to play Halo and other things over the net, so more gamers are figuring out how to do it. If it can use the BBA or a modem, they'll figure out how to hack it somehow...
