I had no idea what the 2nd part of the comic was about but it was still hilarious...
Good comment and it's one I disagree with. I don't think you or anyone else has any say in what he's making. Any good cartoonist ever has put personal feelings and emotions and thoughts into thier comics. Well schooled am I in the funnies, especially Calvin & Hobbes naturally, and I can tell you that some of Wattersons most brilliant moments were in reflection and commentary. However, Watterson was usually less heavy handed in that than Kaneda was. There were some instances where he was though - like when his cat Spirte died (Hobbes went missing, and the one where C & H said they'd meet in dreams - which if you haven't read that one isn't as sappy as that sounds, it's very much in C & H context) or in the strip where C & H find a dead raccoon. The important thing for a cartoonist is to not be overly preachy and not too vauge either. Therein is a real challange for cartoonists. Already I can tell you that (as far as writing goes) Kaneda is far and away better than PA (which I like, but for other reasons).Originally posted by Prince Planet
Less self-indulgent catharsis, and more humor, please.
Kaneda - despite what everyone else is saying I want to say as someone who knows not much about you and someone who knows a tremendous deal about comics (seriously - too much maybe) that for your age you have come along better as a cartoonist than Bill Amend and many many other professional/tenured cartoonists. You've got everything that it takes but you still have a lot to learn. I'm happy however that you made this comic. And the first part was indeed very funny - but only assumeing your audience knows who and what you're talking about (which is a great flaw). Accessibility and Deep Insight (be that humorous or serious) need to have an even keel.

Kaneda: Love the new avatar.

Your point, Tracer, is both fair and accurate. I would only point out that, as far as I have seen, one of the reasons Kaneda displays these strips for all of us to see is so that he can receive reactions, commentaries and criticisms. So, I obliged him. He, of course, is free to draw whatever he pleases.Originally posted by TracerBullet

Great stuff. When is the next one?
Probably in a week or two. I'm fairly lazy.
