I know a couple local stores that sell a pretty good selection, from Anarchs to Final Nights and even a smattering of Sabbat War.

If you can't find any in your area (Philly, right?), just go the eBay route or buy directly from White Wolf.

Also, check out the links on The Lasombra's page.

Have you found any players in your area, CV? Try posting a message on the USENET group or on the White Wolf VTES board; I'm sure there's a few players kicking around.

  2. No, no players yet. Damn Chris for moving away!

I think I'll take your advice and give posting a whirl.

The local comic store used to order the cards especially for me and Chris, but a while back they told us they couldn't do it anymore, and I haven't bought any since. I'll probably end up buying straight from WW, as eBay kicks me in the nuts far to often.

  3. Jyhad was one of my first CCg's and sadly I never got to play game one because the rule book was complex as all hell. Magic followed a few years later, I fell into it arround Visions, and I was a friggin' addict. I finally kicked the habbit arround Exodus but have been dying to get back into it. I may try Vampire now though since Rachel is into vampires and what not.

Good job Sr Sleeve, that's the way to use them cardboard thingies Yeah the Assamites are good with their inherent Obs/Cel combos, give them some weapons and it's hell for everyone else. Salubri/Ventrue could get the bleed done but how would you justify their combat? The irony of the two working together is funny enough though.

ShineAqua - I'd just go with some old boxes then, since it all works well on its own and together. The nice thing about Vampire is that the rules are worded pretty well, a lot of the timing and errata issues that confront Magic simply don't exist. Things happen in a very specific manner and each card's use is usually pretty explicit.

I should scan some Vamp cards one of these days, they'd make neat wallpaper/avatar material.

Easy. Four copies of Lazverinus, Thrall of Lambach.

10-cap, AUS DOM FOR POT pro, Sabbat Archbishop of Houston, +2 strength.

He would be the combat centerpiece (rush/bleed, Freak Drive, repeat) while the !Salubri hang around and bleed or pull him out of torpor if necessary.

  6. Interested in Jyhad/VTES but don't have any friends to play with (yet)?

Or maybe you do have a regular playgroup, yet even they don't meet regularly enough to satisfy your VTES jones?

Fear not, because Deckbot is here!

Deckbot is the most exciting technological innovation to hit the VTES scene in ages. It's essentially an automated script that allows you to play VTES on IRC. Yes, real-time, intercontinental VTES play is now here, and it's free! All cards through the Black Hand expansion are supported.

To learn how to use Deckbot, check out Derek Ray's FAQ:

    http://people.tamu.edu/~skippy/deckbot.html

To play, all you need is a crypt and library file saved in JOL format (Jyhad On-Line). The easiest way to do this is to use the Elder Library Deck Builder, or ELDB, which is available for download here. Follow the simple formatting instructions on the FAQ page and you're good to go.

Deckbot can be found at irc.sorcery.net at #vtes-game.

    Check it out!

I know some people enjoyed it, though, was supposed to be pretty good. I used to like Shadowfist, the Feng Shui CCG, never got to play that much.

    Man, I miss Magic sometimes.
Don't we still damn those goth LARPing queers?

Yeah, I miss those days we spent lunch period playing those multiplayer matches. You had that bitchass green deck with the card that turned other players' lands into Forests and then you had an insane number of Force of Nature. Good lord, I hated that deck.

Of course, after Aaron stopped playing, I received all of his Dark Ritual cards along with his Lord of the Pit ones and that thing which generated tokens you could sacrifice to it from Ice Age. But yeah, before they started incorporating Phasing was when I lost interest. I sold my cards and custom decks on eBay some time ago.

It would be cool to get ahold of some old cards and play in the old style again, though.

  8. Holy crap if my local comic store didn't just get in an entire shipment of Black Hand!!! Not only that, but they're running demos to stir up interest!

    I'm saved!

  9. Black Hand kicks huge amounts of ass, just so you know.

And holy shit, I just played a four-hour game last night. Thought it would never end.

    Yeah, damn fancy bastards.

Heh, pretty cool that Jyhad is still around. How does it compare to Magic: The Gathering, Sleeveboy?

I wonder how M:TG's doing now, too. If I had people to play against, I wouldn't mind getting back into it - I could buy 3 or 4 boxes of every new set now, like I used to want to do back then.
