Seems fine to me. I've only had a Genesis for the past couple of years, so my experience with the originals isn't enough to say whether it's spot on or anything.

  3. I'll at least give it a rental. Maybe a purchase if I can get it for $20. Thanks for the impressions, Masters.

  4. I heard that they actually fixed a lot of the slowdown in Sonic 2's two player mode, is that true? That mode was so much fun

  5. I love Sonic the Hedgehog. That sums up my feelings.

You're not going to make a LiveJournal declaring that love in detail, right?

I liked Sonic 3's 2 player soooo much more. It was much more fun to play levels that were designed with that kind of play in mind. There was so much strategy and skill.

  8. Sonic 2's multi-player was great too. Although the screens were way scrunched.

I am surprised you'd criticise the level design. I think the levels are really great, especially since you can go along the wires and need to figure out how to get places using them. It has great gameplay.. a fantastic character with great powers, insanely delicious graphics, and some of the best music ever. I love Pulseman! It's one of the most underrated games ever.

Sega should soooo make a new Pulseman for GBA and GCN (or PS2). I think the gameplay could be well converted into 3D, because of his moves and the "wires"... *drool*

However, in regards to Sonic Mega Collection.. I see no reason why it would be included. Sonic and Sonic Team had nothing to do with it that I know of. At least Ristar is directly related to Sonic in that it was the original Sonic concept "Feel". Pulseman was developed by the developer who went on to make the Pokémon games for Nintendo.
The first half of the game is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy. That's my main gripe with the level design. My other problem is that most of those wire puzzles can be beaten by trial and error. There is no penalty for spending loads of time on them....I try to beat them as fast as possible ...but isnt thats just making the game artificially harder.
It's still a great game , but Sonic,Ristar, and RKA are better.

  10. I just picked this up today, finally.

Were you still wondering how to unlock the games?

Be sure to know that when it says to play a game a certain number of times, you need to let the game log recording display at each ones, Just going back to the title screen and playing again won't count. You'll need to return to the game menu each time and let the game log record.

To unlock Blue Sphere, have a Phantasy Star Online save on your memory card or play Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic 3D Blast 20 times each.
To unlock Knuckles in Sonic 2, play Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic Spinball 20 times each.
To unlock Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, play Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckes 20 times each.
To unlock Flicky, either have a Sonic Adventure 2 Battle save on your memory card or play Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine 20 times.
And to unlock Ristar, play all 11 games 20 times.
