Still, yeah, I'll try to at least reach the job system, see if I dig that.
Yeah, just don't expect Final Fantasy Tactics or anything. Many of the early jobs are fairly similar and kind of pointless (why does the fighter have three abilites that all have the exact same effect - ie., doing the exact same damage as his normal attack?). They're just a way of customizing your party, really, although you do need certain abilities to beat certain bosses, which unfortunately leads to non-fun levelling up. Like a 100 hour game really needs filler.

Some abilities were more useful than others, but I can't recall any time that you needed a given ability for a certain boss.

  4. If you have never had the urge to go back and beat or maxing out your levels of previous dragon warriors/quests I suggest not attempting to take this gem on.

As to how any of y'all can say this deserves to be in your pile of shame leaves me baffeled. I guess I'm a different gamer, cause I still play the DW series from beginning to end every so often. I don't have the time, but I make the time, and it's still fun to the point that I turn up my stereo, throw back a few, and play.

Enix is, and always will be the shit for Rpgs in my book.

  5. .........that was beutiful....

Dragon Quest 7 plays exactly how a DQ title should play.

I agree that in 7 particularly, getting to the Class System is drawn out, but you really shouldn't ditch the game until getting there (especially since it sounds like you're close).

Oh and contrary to what most people think about this title, levelling-up in DQ7 is a bad idea. Once you get there, your concern in the title are your jobs, and the lower levels your people have, the easier it will be to complete and change jobs. If you get there, remember this for when you get to the Slime Forest.

  7. Well, levelling up is an unavoidable side effect of completing jobs, unless you're just fighting chumps. But if you've gotta go through an hour or two of random battles, you might as well get experience out of them, right?

  8. In DW7 it doesn't really matter what level your characters are, more what abilities they have and what classes they've mastered.

For example. A few people on gamefaqs tried to beat the bonus dungeon boss without mastering a single class, or taking one on for that manner. And they had to be about level 93 to do so. While with good classes mastered it is possible to do it at level 55 and i've heard people who beat it at even lower levels.

  9. If you're the kind of person who likes to play RPGs until all of their guys are on level 99 just to make sure the last boss isn't fun or challenging, man is this the game for you. You can wander aimlessly and level up forever! It's almost as good as a nailgun to the face, and the pain lasts alot longer! YEah! H4rDc0rE

Thing is, I liked the other DWs I played. The very first is still one of my favourite rpgs ever, and is fun to go through to this day. DW7 just doesn't feel as tight as those, for whatever reason. Maybe it's the insanely long quest - it's entirely possible I'd have gotten tied of the others if they were this long as well.
