Just thought i'd make a link incase anyone hasn't seen this yet. Guy "covers" bemani songs by making the sounds with his mouths, overlapping them to recreate the song pretty well. Funny shit.
Plasma == Prime example of why I stopped posting on Bemani boards..

Question: Is it best to jump right into 8th Style with no BM experience or start off with something else...
I'm wondering the same thing. All I know of Beatmania is from the BM98 "simulator" and, uhh, the Wonderswan port or 3rd Mix. Quiet, you. The Wonderswan port has very nice audio. Too bad that I can't clear the Novuo Nude song.Question: Is it best to jump right into 8th Style with no BM experience or start off with something else...

IIDX tends to get progressively harder with each mix. Your best starting point IMO would be to go for a earlier IIDX mix (say 4th) or go for one of the PS1 Beatmania games to start out with. (the IIDX controller works with the original beatmania games too)
Nifty keen. Thanks.
Actually 8th Style is really easy outside of the REALLY hard stuff. 8th Style looks to be almost all 7 star songs, but more than half of them only deserve to be 5's and 6's.
I would say start out with 6th Style home. Theres a lot of easy songs and a nice variety of better 7 stars. Plus it has almost all the good, old 7 stars (R5, V and Sync come to mind). Oh, also it has the Tatsujin videos which shows you just how terrible you really are at the game (Because watching people beat V Another with one hand is really discouraging)! It also has a nice drill mode to help you improve. Probably some other stuff I'm forgetting, but I've always felt that 6th Style home was the most complete.
