    Way Of the Samurai

So is this game worth it? Is it long? Are you able to sever limbs? Just any comments would be helpful.

    Thanks

  2. Oh, it is so worth it.
This game is amazing, it's atmosphere and music are second to none, and the battle system and nonlinear story lines are great.

You don't sever limbs, I don't even remember there even being blood, but who cares about that.

You play as a samurai drifter who wanders into an area of Japan that is in the middle of a conflict between the two major clans of the area, and a hostile take over by the government. It's up to you whether you would like to align yourself with one of the ninja clans, help out some innocent restaurant owners, or not get involved at all, the choice is yours to make.

Easily amongst the best games of 2002, truely a sleeper hit.

  3. What Regus said And there are some blood during the fights, but no dismemberment.

I would say it's probably the most underrated game of the year. It has great atmosphere and non-linear gameplay.

  5. It's not long, but far more flexible then 99% of any console game ever. Hella good stuff.

  6. You're supposed to sit down with it for an hour or so, and have your own samurai adventure (your saves are wipped out after you use them). After you complete the game, you'll have the swords carried over to your next game (you can get 61 in all). Each sword has its own strengths and its own style (actually, I'm not sure that is EVERY sword since I've only played a little...it was badass when I almost beat the game and was surrounded by guys and broke my sword, so I pulled out a ninja sword and started fighting with a ninja style!). You'll also unlock more heads and bodies for your character, and more characters in the battle mode (where you can fight a friend).

  7. Green - just to clarify, you're supposed to finish each time you play? Sounds very intriguing. I've seen it in a 2 for 1 deal on PS2 games, may well pick it up.

  8. Yes, it is not long, but you're given many options as you play. So basically you play it over and over and collect the swords while trying out new things.

  9. It is currently in my pile of shame. I played for like 30 minutes when I first got it and within those 30 minutes I had a lot of fun. I intend to pick it up after I finish Prime, Fusion, and 100's of hours on Steel Battallion, but until then it will stay in my pile of shame. Very cool though. I suggest you buy it.
