The best "update" of a classic game is...

Well, I havent played Prime yet, so I can comment on it. Orta wont be out for another 2 months, but demo was nice.

Shinobi is good, fast paced action game. Can be very frustraiting, and camera bugs me, but you still can have lots of fun with it.

Contra is one tough game. Had it for about a month now, and still havent finished it. It still have gameplay of old games in the series, and does test your skills.

Only played Rygar for a while, and since I never played original on NES, I cant comment on the simularities. But so far PS2 version is a very nice action adventure game.

anyways, i voted Metroid since technically, Panzer games did come out last generation. they're not that old.

I would also like to say that Maximo come sin a close second after Metroid Prime and if it wasnt for metroid prime MAximo probably would have gotten GOTY from me

Did I ever mention that I beat Maximo with 100% Mastery on one life? I did, however, save after every level and load whenever I died.

I'm sorry, there's really no point in me saying that other than being a chode, but I couldn't resist. :-P

Definitely Meroid Prime for me. It was waaaay overdue and did the series justice and then some. My second vote would probably be for Contra then Shinobi.
I would count in Rygar seeing how great it is but since I never played the original(I wish it was in the game) I can't really say.
