The best "update" of a classic game is...

I voted Metroid Prime. I honestly haven't played all of these though I have read about all of them.

heh, I never even played a Metroid game. I've only read about it too! But I think Metroid prime is such a good game, even in 3D with a FPPerspective, I can't imagine how it could be better.

You know ... I personally think Mario Sunshine is one sweeeet and excellently done game too. It could've been on this poll too.

I've played Fusion and Maximo for about five minutes each, but I voted Shinobi, as it's the only one I've played to any extent.

There is no reason to get all up tight about the votes. It's just a poll. You would think the voters were killing kittens with the snide remarks for Orta's 7 votes.

I feel for Panzer Dragoon Orta the way most of the "Prime" owners feel towards the Metroid series. Playing the demo let me know that Smilebit isn't going to do anything to bring down the series. I've played through the demo about 15 times now and I can't f'n wait for the game to get released in the US. My vote is all in fun. It's not a knock against Metroid Prime.

If Panzer Dragoon Orta is on there then the new Ninja Gaiden should be too, nether one is out yet

I voted for Metroid Prime, Metroid Fusion isn't much of an update since it plays and looks a lot like Super Metroid... but that isn't a bad thing after all

Orta is amazing, but forget about remakes - Prime is simply the best game I've ever played.

I don't think it's fair to those who voted to be criticized upon whether they were a avid veteran of the Metroid series just to appreciate Prime. The discussion here is "what is the best update based upon a classic franchise. "Prime" is one of the choices, a very valid and fair selection...and the community has made their choices. The fanship tenure is irrelevant IMO. I've played 98% of the games listed there and Prime still deserved to get the acclaim that its received here and throughout the net.

You can even acknowledge it as this holiday season's "killer ap".
