Sunsoft's Alien Syndrome is leagues better than the SMS game. It has true "Gauntlet" scrolling and 2 player, unlike the bad SMS version which scrolls one screen at a time. It is a tad slow compared to the arcade, but the level design generally sticks to the real McCoy.

Regarding Fantasy Zone, I'll second that on the TG-16 version. It's a nice bonus to be able to play it on the Turbo Express.

Tengen's one does suck; it feels so off in so many ways. I don't know why they didn't just release Sunsoft's version here. They did with Alien Syndrome and After Burner.

I got a copy off ebay @6 months ago for $30


keep in mind those 3DAges releases maybe the original will make in in there somewhere.
..dang. anyway. they'd better have emulations of the original games on those new 3DAges disks.

the $30 I spent is hella worth it.
It is easily one of my all time favorite Saturn disks. But goddamn does that Saturn pad work my finger. I've gotta play FantasyZone with a stick.

Well I can get any version. I read that the only plus of owning the Saturn version is for the intro song with Vocals.

As for FZ2 being the better game, I want to start at the beggining. Plus I can get the TG-16 version for $13, rather get that then pay an extra $17 for a Song.

I will buy the TG-16 version. Tis decided. Great help guys.

The game is nightmarishly hard. And no continues. I love the hell out of the game, but I can't beat the last level. It's insane.

That and its alot easier/cheaper to find than the system 16 PCB. The Saturn one has alot of advantages over the other home ports. Much better difficulty, no flicker or slowdown... I mean the murderous firing patterns are half the appeal of the game.
