A Namco / Sega merger makes the most sense. I just wonder how well their designers would get along with one another...
Konami's mega-successful doing what they're doing and so a "merger" doesn't sound like the right course of action for them, in my opinion.Originally posted by TracerBullet
Konami doesn't need to be bought, they wouldn't sell to anyone but why would there be any adversity in a mutual merger?
Sega's just not going to happen... not that I can tell.
If this "speculation" has any basis of truth then I'm guessing it's more of a buying situation than a merger strategy. Mergers usually mean the dissolve of the weaker party's logo/identity and only the most successful franchises would live on, under new management.
...but it's a speculation of a speculation so take it for what it's worth.

mergers...bad.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, you know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done. -George Carlin
I really hope Namco is not involved. When I think of the best 3rd parties, the other three come quickly to mind. Namco would be a burden on any of the three, although their shit (read: Tekken) does sell.

I am not sure it would matter? Just like how Sega has different development teams in house, I am sure if they merged with Namco they'd just be like a new department. Sort of like when Sega acquired Red.A Namco / Sega merger makes the most sense. I just wonder how well their designers would get along with one another...
Damn, that was the best post ever.
