Sega and Namco could be a real juggernaut. If that happens, we just may see Tekken vs. VF after all. Then again, I'd like to see a Slash-Out style game featuring characters from Soul Calibur 2 (Cassandra and Mitsurugi would be good choices for this).

If Sega and Capcom merge... hopefully Capcom can get Takumi fixed up with the Chihiro system for Giga Wing 3. Don't give us Night Raid 2, please.

I'd bet against Konami being involved in the merger unless it was with Namco... for one thing, Namco is now getting into Mocap games with Mazan: Flash of the Blade. Namco has also gotten into some Bemani type stuff as well. (Guitar Jam, Taiko no Tatsujin etc.)

As cool as it would be, I honestly don't think a Capcom/Sega merger would be good...for Capcom anyways. I mean, Sega is practically little more than dead weight in Japan these days. I love 'em but that's the truth. But Capcom has great brand name appeal in Japan, maybe that could help Sega but that's a big MAYBE.

If this is all true it just adds to the insanity that's been going the past few years.

Look at the past 2 years:

Sega goes thrid party/gives up hardware
EA and Square merge
Square and Enix merge
Microsoft enters the console race
Now this supposed merger

The gaming world is being quite skaen up an changed around if you as me.

Tragic: The industry has been that insane forever. Few people predicted the 2600 crash, NES's emergence, Sega toppling Nintendo, Sony toppling Sega, etc. The only predictable thing about gaming is that it's incredibly unpredictable.


A lot of people have been offering predictions, but which of these
would you most like to see? For me I think I'll say Sega + Namco. I am not a big fan of Namco, but I do like some of their games like Klonoa, Mr Driller, and of course Pac Man (classic Pac Man anyway). A lot of their output has been lacklustre, but they have potential and I think they'd compliment Sega well.

I don't like the idea of Sega and Capcom together really. I know many people here LOVE both companies.. and they're both definitely deserving of respect. They just don't seem like a great match to me. I guess it would depend on what the merger would actually mean, it might not change things that much..


Also; would anyone like to put odds on how likely any of this is to happen? I am thinking that it's less than 50% until I see something with more substance.
