The list:
1) Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo (ST)
2) Final Fantasy IV
3) Secret of Mana
4) Blaster Master
5) Doom

7) The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time
9) Phantasy Star II

The why:
1) I've always enjoyed Street Fighter, but ST was such a big step from HF and even from Super (which I hardly played, I didn't like it) It also is what really got me into competitive SF play, which is why it has to be at the top of the list for me. Not so much for the game itself, but for the impact it had.

2) FFIV: I can't count how many times I've played through this. It was really the first RPG I played that had characters that I cared about at all.

3) SoM: Number of times played through is only rivaled by FFIV The atmosphere of this game was so different than anything else I'd played.

4) BM: This was actually my favorite exploration game, and one I could still play today. I missed Metroid the first time around (hey, I lived on an island) and BM had the opportunity to fill that void

5) Doom: I don't think this needs much explaination

6) The first shmup I really, REALLY got into. I played (and still can play) this game for hours. It opened the door to the world of shmups to me.

7) LTTP/OOT: I waffled big time between this and Ocarina of Time, so I copped out and put them both at 7 I enjoyed both of them immensely, but I didn't want to put them both on the list. There are such similarities in the presentation and the experience of both games, that I couldn't really pick one ahead of the other.

9) Freespace 2: I've yet to play a space sim that's created an experience like Freespace 2 did. It was like playing a Final Fantasy game in space

10) PS2: The 2nd RPG that had characters I cared about
