I just bought a JPS2...

Over eBay, I just dropped $288 for a JPS2 with VF4, Klonoa 2, Maximo, Onimusha, Gungrave, and the Metal Gear Solid promotional DVD.

It's one of the launch JPS2s, I believe. The only problem with this model number was the whole DVD region thing, right?

I think you got pretty cool deal, considering all those games. And now you can enjoy some of the PS2 games that unfortunately havent come here.

I have the first model Jap PS2 too. The only problem I had with it was with the memory card. First it kept deleting itself, then it finally died. I've had a replacement memory card for about a year now and haven't had a problem.

I paid $250 for a Japanese Ps2 with no games, so yes, I'd say you got a good deal.

As for any problems, I've never heard of problems with Japanese units. I think that may be confined to the Us systems for the most part. I hope so anyway...

The first run of the PS2's in Japan were recalled. They said it was because the memory cards erased themselves, but I'm sure it was because you could disable macrovision easily on it. The motion picture association wasn't happy about it. I don't think that they would have recalled the PS2 just because of a memory card bug.

The PS2s weren't recalled, the Memory Cards were.

Tain, you've got a good deal and a great system.

Now let's see if all the future Bemani release are fucking Pop'n Music or what -_-
