Thread: How satisfied are you with your PS2/GC/XBox?

I think the markets are changing surely, but certainly not necessarily due to a shift in power. I mean take a look at the Japanese charts and the situations are always quite different.

The truth is that games are starting be mature as a media and diversify. And as that happens, each market will have more games tailored for it's specific audience rather than a blanket, cover-all type of approach worldwide. Japanese games love Japanese games, Westerners prefer Western developed games.

  2. Gamecube- 9/10
The GC really suprised me this year-up until May, I thought the system was the worst of the three. SSBM was pretty much the only thing the console had going for it. But then Resident Evil hit. After that, Eternal Darkness was released, with Mario Sunshine close behind. Starfox Adventures, Super Monkey Ball 2, and Resident Evil 0 were great, but Metroid Prime sealed the deal. The Gamecube is my favorite console right now.
    PS2- 8/10
The PS2 has something for everyone. I've really enjoyed MGS2, GTAIII, VF4, Jak and Daxter, NFS:HP2, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Stuntman, and Devil May Cry. But the hardware is holding the score back- load times suck ass.
    GBA- 7/10
It's SNES, except it fits in your pocket.
    Xbox- 6/10
Dissapointing so far. This console is great when you want to shoot something in the face or play a SEGA game, but that's about it. Wake me up when Orta's released.

  3. XBOX: 9/10

I've been having a ball with this system, especially connected via component outputs and in 5.1. Splinter Cell, Nightfire, Jedi Outcast, Rallisport, Max Payne, Serious Sam, Morrowind...it just goes on and on. Definitely my favorite right now.

    PS2: 7/10

Great lineup, with Vice City, Red Faction 2, Sly Cooper, Mark of Kri, Contra, Shinobi, and others. Great for the huge amount of good games that can be had cheap. No 5.1 support and THAT FUCKING GUNCON 2 take away its edge, though. I'm beginning to notice the graphical difference too.

    GBA: 7/10

Lots of good games, just too many ports. I do love my PS Collection, but Fusion is disappointing. Zelda's fun, as is HOD but I want some FRESH meat!!

    Game Cube: 6/10

Dusty and unplayed, then played intensely, now dusty again. My GC went unplayed for 5 months until RE was released. I played through that in a weekend and again the system went untouched until Sunshine came along. After about 3 weeks and with utter disgust for the camera, I stopped playing. Animal Crossing was a high point though for the summer. Then I got RE0 and Prime and was in heaven for about 2 weeks. Now we're back to dust again until Zelda's released. After that...

I'm torn with the GC. I really want to love it, but every time I get close to doing so, I have nothing to play. Fighting games don't really interest me nor does Mario Party, and Star Fox and ED are too expensive with all the new PS2 and Xbox stuff coming out. The good games are too far apart, IMO.
