I agree. It's nice for once to see a movie that isn't 2 1/2 hours long.

I watched the original NM last night, and a lot of it looks really bad.
I agree, how about the part where Freddy is walking down the alley and his arms grow really long? That looked freaky back when I first saw it but now those puppet arms look retarded. The effects in FvJ were good, for the most part.
("Jay" should be ALL over the place, not just 2 pieces)
True, all the innards should have flown every which way.

    "Jay".

Do they just estimate the totals for Sunday? Because there are still showings when they say the total, plus the west coast is 3 hours behind the east. I think it'll do more than $37 million. It's been a long time since either franchise made that kind of money. I'm so glad most people are liking it and it's doing so well.
Good point. The take for the weekend usually isn't official until Monday afternoon at the earliest. This will be the #1 movie this week for sure. I know a site that posts the weekend results...I'll post them tomorrow.

The worst is probably when he cuts his fingers off. It looks awful. His make up makes him look really hidious though. I noticed he doesn't crack any jokes too. (BTW "how sweet, dark meat" got a weird reaction. Probably the must un-pc remark in the movie).

There is so much shit to talk about this flick, I always forget to write about something. A lot of people laughed during the movie, usually after a good kill. The bed knifing got a little "oh" and then the folding, I think the whole theatre flinched. And there was a surprising pop for Jason's neck snap at the rave. After seeing Freddy's display in this one, and the reactions he got, I just know they can get one more awesome standard flick out of him. It's in there, it just needs the care that this movie got and it'll be awesome.

pixelassassin: Did you really like Nightmare 2? It's universally considered the worst one by far. It was awful.

I didn't think the finger bit looked that bad. And he did crack the occasional joke ("I'm your boyfriend now!" ), but for the most part he did play it straight.

(BTW "how sweet, dark meat" got a weird reaction. Probably the must un-pc remark in the movie)..
Yeah, the whole crowd went "OOOOOOOOOOHHHH!!!!" when Freddy said that, but in a "damn, I can't believe he actually said that" kinda way.

You know, I saw Nightmare 2 years ago and always thought it was a good movie, but I rented it a few months ago and I suddenly realized how bad it really is...that chick beat Freddy by kissing him. Lame. And how about the gay S&M gym coach? We get treated to the sight of Freddy snapping towels across his bare asscheeks. Man, that whole scene scored high on the fag-o-meter. I'm suprised Freddy didn't cornhole him afterwards. Seriously, watch that scene and tell me you can't feel the gay oozing out of the tv screen.

The part where Freddy comes out of the guys chest is cool, though. That's about it.

Sure, you can say its a draw, or Jason fans can proclaim Jason victory, but I think it was Freddy who gets the crown. Afterall all he wanted is to Jason to die again, and now Freddy can go back scarrying people in the dreams.
    Well put, Freddy Rules!!!!!!

Freddy used to be a child killer correct? Was he also a child molester? There was a comment about him liking little girls, can't remember if it was every addressed in the first one. Was there also a backstory that Freddy's Mom was gang-banged too?

  6. I just came back from seeing it with a friend and I'm pretty disappointed in some regards.

    **********************Spoilers***************************

The kids all acted horribly even for this type of movie. I especially hated the lead girl/guy I REALLY wanted them to die hard.

Example:The guy(Will) basically laughs it off when he tells her(Lori) that he saw her dad kill her mom and the fucking girl just can't act at all to pull off any suspense or fear. I just want to jam my cock down her throat and stab her through the chest with a rusty machete, she almost ruined the film for me.

The only kid I thought that did a pretty good job was the blonde guy who was escaped with the other from the ward. I was expecting the cop from the previous Nightmare on Elm Street movies sort of like the Doctor in Terminator 3 as an 'easter egg' but no dice :/ The cops were fodder as usual and I could care less about the cover up even if it did make sense to fend away Freddy.

I saw the 'jumpy' moments a mile away like the 'Freddy-in-the-mirror once-it-closes-shut' and 'the-guy-who-grabs-you-out-of-nowhere-to make-it-seem-like-it-was-the-bad-dude' stuff.

Really, the only parts that were damn good were the Freddy vs Jason fights since they were more to the point and were dream matches. The gore was ok but pretty tame compared to other movies today. The first death was pretty cool with the dude getting stabbed through the bed and getting folded backwards but after that it wasn't as good. I also thought letting Freddy resort to using 'bitch' alot got meh after the first time, old Freddy just made some great jokes and ended it in a more creative way instead of one lame death in this one.

The Jay looking/sounding character was pretty funny I have to admit and the sets were eerie like the lake/island and the Freddy boiler room. I liked the shot of Freddy Jumping out of the water also seen in the trailers, as well as the last shot of Jason with Freddy's head. It looks very stylish and well done. The part where Kelly Rowland character is telling off Freddy was damn funny and came to a great conclusion. The film didn't take any prisoners in nudity either, all the chicks had big tits

The other touches like Jason's little foreboding sound effect and Freddy's disturbing song sung by the children were pretty cool.

As for the victor, they both got their licks in but I think in the end Freddy 'won' that round since the girl interfered. He also really did a number on Jason's body with all the damage he took. I don't know how he would have really 'killed' Jason though unless he de-capitated him or something more severe. I need to know how resiliant his body is since he can also fall under the effects of the sleeping serum. For me it wasn't clear as to whether it ended in the dream world or the real world. You can either say Freddy was still alive as a head in the real world as some of his dream/demonic power transferred over or that Jason drowned again and was in deep sleep thinking he had Freddys head from underwater since Freddy is keeping him sedated to Jason's satisfaction somehow.

Anyways it wasn't great or anything but if your rip your dick out and swap it with your brain to tolerate the awful 'acting' then by all means watch it to only see the cool showdowns between Freddy and Jason and the nicely crafted sets.

*BTW* WTF is up with my theater today? It had it all, crying kids(seriously, what stupid ass parent is dumb enough to bring them to this movie?!), loud ass cell phone unanswered right next to me an an annoying talking crowd guessing what will happen at the plot. I think I'll see it again some time but with less of a annoying crowd.

  7. When Kelly Rowland get's killed, doesn't Jason give her a backhand with the machete? I might be thinking wrong (does he always keep it in his right hand?) but her head should have gone flying. I think that would have been better. The head hits the tree 50 feet away and the body just slumps to the ground.

What? Name one. FvJ was freaking carnage on screen.

The only shit acting I'll call out is near the end when freddy walks up with Jason's machete. Wills reaction face is fucking awful. He looks like he's smiling.

Event Horizon had some crazy shit, The Relic and even Jeepers Creepers has some sick stuff. I think that since those films were more serious that they just came off more effective.

I actually thought the older Freddy/Jason movies had more creative gory ways of killing their victims. Most if it was either slamming a person really hard into something or impaling with a decapitation or two. The rave part was pretty ok but Jason was just wailing on kids with the machete, maybe it just wasn't shot to the effect of looking more brutal to me I dunno.

I expected something really fucking insane like using that pipe to impale 4-5 people at once during the part where the kids were dancing in a line or maybe something jammed through their head, being ripped apart, whatever. There was tons of gore and stuff and some were kind of satisfying for the crowd mentality but they just didn't make me flinch in any manner other than that first death.

Thats my problem with him, it seems like he's smiling at the most inappropriate at times in a Matt Dillon'ish way. But man, he was definitely not the only shitty actor. The girls all annoyed the fuck out of me leaving me to desire their deaths even quicker. That one liner the girl used in the end before decapitating Freddy in that horrible voice sealed the deal 'Welcome to my world BITCH!'.

  9. Just caught it again earlier today and was still very entertained. I still think that Jason looks better when you can't see his eyes, and are just black voids in the mask. That was one thing that bothered me the entire time.

As for the gore in the movie, while it was pretty damn extreme some of the clips at the beginning were gorier. Like the vein marrionette thing, that looked awesome. Which Nightmare was that in? 3?

I fucking LOVED that line. Un-PC remarks kick ass. Too bad I haven't seen this with a big crowd so I couldn't really hear a big reaction about anything.

Oh yeah, I would also like a total death toll in this movie. Anyone know?

Edit: Oh yeah, I like how the female lead sort of respected Jason at the end when he just fucking killed all of her best friends. I think I wouldn't like that fella too much if he wiped out my crew like that.

    I'm guessing less than 20.
