Thread: Wavy Lines in PS2 Disc

  1. Wavy Lines in PS2 Disc

I just got a new PS2 game in the mail and I opened it up and the disc has these weird wavy lines in it. It's definitely new and it's not scratched ... is this normal? Will it play?

    Help!

  2. That's the first I've ever heard of this. Does the game play?

  3. My Suikoden III is like that. Plays fine.

What do these lines look like? Do they radiate in a circle out from the center of the disc?

    I've seen it. Many times.

Don't worry. Your disc is fine.

Nope, they're just sort of wavy on one area. Hard to describe. But there is no real pattern if that's what you meant.

Jeremy: Haven't got the actual PS2 yet ... just saw a good deal on a game I wanted.

    Thanks for your help everyone.

  7. That happens a lot with DVDs. Xbox games, movies, too - I have plenty of disks like that. Some DC games, too.

Like everyone else says, they're fine!

  8. Icepop: Quit common. I work at an EB and sometimes when we take back returns, people return games with that problem, in fear that the game is defective -- even though it plays. It's just a pressing problem. The disk presser probably wasn't calibirated properly, so it didn't apply the correct amount of pressure to the CD. Live and learn, I've seen it first hand. Which is also how defective games happen.
