Thread: Favorite Mario Spin-off Genre

  1. Favorite Mario Spin-off Genre

Nintendo has made a hell of a lot of Mario related games. Which genre do you most prefer?

    Some examples:

RPG- Paper Mario, Super Mario RPG
Sports- Mario Golf series, Mario Tennis series
    Fighting- Super Smash Bros series
Racing- Mario Kart series, Excitebike bunbun Mario Battle
    Party- Mario Party
    Puzzle- Dr Mario, Mario's Picross
Other- Mario is Missing, Mario Paint

I'm gonna go with RPG. Its the genre that takes the most advantage of Mario and all that he encompasses by placing you right in the middle of the Mushroom Kingdom and all its characters and events. wonderful stuff.

All of these are great but I have to go with Fighting. The Smash Bros. games are incredible and I love how they encompass all of Nintendo.

Yeah, Super Mario RPG alone pretty much ensures the RPG category gets my pick. Party is rather close though, as is puzzle. Unfortunatly, I haven't played either Mario Golf or Tennis, so that screws up my judgement a bit.

  4. This is a tough one. Mario Golf and Mario Tennis are both amazing, but the RPG's are damn good too. I played more of the sports so I'll go with those.

  5. Smash Bros and and Mario RPG are both amazing, but I think I spent the longest playing Super Mario Kart with friends back in the day, and if I'm not mistaken, this game pretty much invented the kart racing genre. Sadly, MK64 wasn't up to snuff IMO (I know people who say the exact opposite) and I haven't been able to play MK:SC outside of a handful of times.

    Mario Tennis.

  7. Racing. Mario Kart has eaten up more of my time than any other Mario spin-off, and it's pretty hard to beat as a multiplayer game.

  8. Yep, Super Mario Kart is still one of my favorite games. Smash brothers is great too, but not in the same way. Hopefully the cube gets an update in the vein of the snes version, and not the dumbed-down 64 version.

  9. Any votes for Mario Teaches Typing?
