The usual for me. Doom I/II, Quake, and Half-Life on PC, and Goldeneye, Halo, and Metroid Prime on console.
*Giggles at people saying Halo*
Ahh Console FPS games...funny things they are.
Quake (Still the best. That would almost be sad if it wasn't so amazing)
Doom 2
Half-Life
System-Shock 2
Ha-Err I mean Starsiege: Tribes
Then I could go and name mods until tomorrow.
Play Guitar Hero //

*shrug* Maybe it's just you. I have absolutely no problem pegging people with the sniper rifle *unzoomed* in multiplayer matches. After playing Timesplitters 2, the aiming in Halo seemed like a godsend.Originally posted by Mfkzt
Then there needs an option to increase autoaim sensitivity, because I don't even notice it right now. I liked how your cursor would move towards enemies in Goldeneye. Console first-person shooters need to be as simplified as possible, because playing without a mouse fucking sucks.
(not that TS2 has bad aiming, it's just alot harder)
Why label a game First Person. It's just a perspective. Zelda isn't called a third person adventure. It's just an Adventure. Just like Metroid is an Adventure game. Look back to the first Metroid and first Contra. In those games you run, jump, and shoot. So does that mean there in the same genre. I think they should drop the hole first person thing. Just call a game what it is. Shooter, adventure, rpg, and on and on. Another example is Socom with Rachet and Clank. Both 3rd person, both you jump in, and both shoot stuff. Must be the same genre. See it's pretty stupid to label a game based on perspective and a few common themes.
Lots of common threads between, say, Turok Evo and Ikaruga. Shooters all, right?Originally posted by usagi

I dont like deathmatch/championship FPSs, like Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament/Championship, since I'm not big into multiplayer.
Hey Prince Planet, I think you missed the point. All I was saying was you can't stick a game in a genre based on a perspective. I never said you couldn't have sub catergorys like action/rpg, space/shooter, or whatever the game is, but to merely call a game a first person shooter just cause you have a gun and your in first person view is stupid. So Time Crisis was one kick ass first person shooter, wasn't it?
Well there's a lot more to a FPS that seperates it from other genres. The way I see it, if you're a floating gun and you have control over the movement of the character it's a First-Person Shooter.Originally posted by usagi

FPS' are too different to be put in the same catagory as action games.
