One of the great joys about a community like TNL is finding people that share your interests, no matter how obscure. Sqoon for the NES isn't completely under the radar, but it doesn't get nearly the love it deserves.

This year, Irem is back with Sqoon's spiritual successor, Sub Rebellion, and the only person I know that might be as excited as I am is probably - you guessed it - our own Sqoon, the man.

Of course Sqoon, the man, is a pretty fair critic, not easily swayed by sentimentality or nostalgia. And Sub Rebellion is a lot different from Sqoon, the game.

[blockquote]. . . the game is inherently and fundamentally fun, but a little bit more true variation couldn’t have hurt. And fortunately, though the game isn’t very deep (kill, find artifacts, buy new equipment, repeat) and with the missions more or less mirroring each other, it hardly ever gets repetitive thanks to a meticulous pace that, surprisingly, doesn’t abrade the gameplay but actually makes it more pleasurable.[/blockquote]
