JPN PS2 - Get

Well, I just ordered a Japanese PS2 yesterday from the lovely VGD... So I have a few dopey questions I'd like to ask:

-I'm assuming there is an English system menu option... correct?

-Vertical or horizontal - Is there any harm in using the system in a vertical fashion?

-How many times have you seen the above question?

-Anything else I should know?

Sweetness... if you have enough free time you can run high scores for individual songs as well as EX courses

I also heard about the running vertical being bad, but I currently place my US system at a 45 degree angle when running CD games or else they'll lock up (just like the old PSX).

Now you've done it! Welcome aboard Click_Stick! Just be prepared financially (don't forget it's also a PS1). There are literally TONS of great PS1/PS2 games that have never hit our shores (yet).

...and yes there's a English system menu and no don't run your new JPS2 vertically.

The horizontal/vertical thing is a not an issue for most newer version ps2 systems, especially if you only play originals and not backups

Really? I've been running mine vertically for well over a year now and I've experienced no problems whatsoever (knock on wood). I bought my PS2 on launch. What documented problems have arisen because of running a PS2 vertically?

EDIT: I am referring to a US PS2 in my inquiry above, though I would assume that the alleged detriments of running a PS2 vertically would apply to both US and JPN consoles.

Dunno. Playing X-Com right now on the US one, I can check in 1 hour or so.

Mine has been exclusively vertical, and, I have never used a power transformer, I just plug it into the wall. Launch, as I said, which was what? March or April of 2000? I've never had any problems with it at all.

The only problem I have found, is that a couple things on the Memory Card (it's a launch one too), can't be deleted. Like, a courrpted RRV save file. Dunno why, but that's how it is.

I have a PS2 question that does not deserve it's own topic.. so I'll toss it in here. Why are some game PS2 discs blue and some silver? I assumed they'd all be blue so when I saw silver I was surprised.
