That sucks, because I was pretty fond of all of their latest releases. I expected ppl to really dig Defender and MKA especially.

According to an article published recently in the Los Angeles Times, it seems Midway, maker of classic arcade titles like Defender and Gauntlet, and the popular Mortal Kombat series, is looking to sell. Like many companies of late, the industry has been harsh, and despite the success of the latest in their Mortal Kombat series this holiday season, Midway just isn't able to keep up in the increasingly difficult market. At least two companies have reportedly began talks with the Chicago-based game company.

It's sad to hear that the once great 80's and sometimes 90's arcade developer has finally lost the battle. With all the trash they've released in the late 90's, one had to wonder when consumers would say they've had enough of their shoddy products. The latest Mortal Kombat and Defender were a step in the right direction, but it was too little too late I guess.
BTW: Atari developed Gauntlet, not Midway. I guess they do own the properties to Atari games, but it was an Atari developed franchise.
Thanks for clearing that up.![]()
