The Sims

Just curious who's interested in this game and why? I have never played The Sims for one I don't have a fast computer and two I don't care for PC games most of the time. But I'm taking a look at the console version. Yeah I know it will be stripped down, but I read their adding some exclusive content and working hard on getting the the most out of the dual shock. Plus this could be a really great chance to get my girl more interested in gaming!

I liked the Sims on the PC... for about 20 minutes. I can't stand the generic character designs. If I can find the PS2 version for $20, and if it has better character designs, then I'll pick it up.

I never understood the utter love some have for this game. Really, The Sims has no point at all. What exactly IS the point, anyway? Can't you just watch your own family instead for free?

Well, I don't know if you perused the "Another Suing About GTA" thread, but Aurora, Dyne and I had a really funny arguement about violence in gaming. And, you're welcome.

Basically the game is just a way to play house with your virtual dolls on the computer. For some (like me) you can make the most of the game and just have fun recreating your family and see how long it is before they hate each other. There is some appeal to the game since you can import skins and faces for your characters and wall paper and flooring, so its not generic. I've seen people with the whole cast of Evangelion in a house (talk about problems there) or the team from Reservoir Dogs. I wonder if the PS2 will include an editing option to allow for this on their version?

Its just not too different from Animal Crossing except you have more interaction with your furnature (not too much more though). Plus the social interaction is a little more complex.

Correct, but then again, I never said it had a point. Just pointing out what might be the appeal to other people. The PC version is selling to well not to have some merits.

Like Animal Crossing, if you are searching for some deep meaningingful quest in the game, you aren't going to find it.
