  1. Candy cane thing update: we essentially won(see page 4)

Contrary to what the super intendant said, everyone else is essentially allowed to hand out anything that has nothing to do with religion, and I'm pretty sure that the Bible Club counts as a school activity.

    Seperation of church and state?

Handing out religious tracts at school is a no no. Why is this so hard to understand?

  3. The notes attached to the candy cane gave a religious explanation of the peppermint treat, detailing how its ''J'' shape stands for Jesus and its red and white stripes symbolize Christ's blood and purity.
    You know, I wasn't aware.

  4. Oh brother.

Punishing this looks mighty silly when they have a Bible Club. Isn't part of the Bible Club's purpose to spread the word of Jesus? It should be considered free speech.

If you're not a Christian, no one is forcing you to accept the candy cane.

Since when is Christmas a religous holiday..?????

Everyone knows xmas is to celebrate our right to get ourselves in serious credit card debt and keep the economy running by spending all our money at once. Not too mention to spread our crankyness, rudeness, superficialness, and materialisticness too.

    ......Silly school officials.

Actually, according to the Supreme Court, if you're allowed to hand out anything at all, you're allowed to hand out something to do with religion. According to the school handbook, if you are allowed to say something in school, you are allowed to write it down and hand it to someone.

No, it's for people who want to study the Bible for whatever reason to have somewhere to find other people like them.

Besides, this is all pointless anyway, judging from this paragraph:
The six students, who are members of the school's bible club, say they asked their principal if they could include the religious messages with the candy canes just before Christmas. When they were told they couldn't, the students passed out 450 candies and attachments.
They were told they couldn't from the get-go, before they even started. That's when they should've protested, going against the principal and then trying to fight is just stupid.

But I suppose they had to hurry to get those candy canes out before Christmas. I mean, we all know what would've happened if their "most important message on the face of this Earth" got delayed by a couple weeks. Well, I can't think of anything, but I'm sure someone can.

We did start protesting it immediately. We found copies of several Supreme Court cases that allow us to do this, got a petition signed by 50 non-christian kids saying that they didn't mind, and had a lawyer contact them.

It would be a bit odd to give out a Christmas message when it isn't around Christmas.
