Thread: Mad Maestro

  1. Mad Maestro

    Does any one have this game or has played it? Is it worth $14.99?

  2. I bought for $12.99 I don't really think it was worth it. The classical music is nice, but I do not like the gameplay at all.

    Okay, this is how it works:

    Circles appear on screen, and this little ball of light jumps from circle to circle, and when it lands on a circle you have to press X, but the twist is that you have to apply a certain ammount of pressure, depending on what color the circle is.

    So it's like:

    HARD -> NORMAL -> SOFT -> SOFT

    Bleh, I did not derive much enjoyment out of it.

  3. thanks for the info Regus. Sounds like it would get boring after like 10 minutes.

  4. Got it, played it a total of once. Though the idea is nice, the bacground stuff fun, and the music absolutely fantastic, the game just isn't as fun as it should be. I didn't like the pressure thing at all, apparently I'm a complete button-masher.

    There's an idea for a great game in here, but it needs more work. I'd love a great classical music game, and almost overcame the boring gameplay on this one. But not quite.

  5. If the Dual Shock analog buttons didn't suck like a whore on free day, that would sound really cool. As is, I'm a sucker for music games and will still pick this up at some point.

    Didn't the Japanese version or some such have a conducter's wand? I remember something being mentioned about that...

  6. I have it and enjoyed playing it. The pressure sensitivity is kind of wonky, but other than that I had no gripes. I like how the musicians follow the speed of the buttons you push, not the speed of the symbols on the screen. If you biff it, the whole orchestra screws up with you. The big downer is there really is nothing to do other than follow what is on the screen. Where as in Um Jammer or Parappa, you could throw in some of your own style along with the required button pressing. Its on a PS2 Magazine demo disc if you can find some one that has it, it'll give you a good idea if you would like it or not.

  7. I played it almost all the way thru...and it is fun, but the pressure sensitivity is HORRIBLE. Once you get used to what the game considers soft and medium....well, you'll be okay. It's fun if you have absolutely nothing else to play.
