Nintendo plans to release a GameCube Pokemon game in Japan during the summer of 2003, according to Japanese publication Nikki Net. Interestingly though, they mention that the game will be unplayable without a Gameboy Advance linkup with either Pokemon Ruby or Pokemon Sapphire (both are GBA Pokemon games, similar to the Gameboy's Pokemon Red and Blue etc.) A rather bold and interesting move on Nintendo's part...
TNL will have more news as it becomes available on this topic.
I don't know if I'm in the minority, but I'm not very excited about having to fork over $70 for a GBA, $30 for Sapphire/Ruby, and $10 for a GC/GBA cable just to play the new Pokemon game on my Gamecube.
