Thread: The 49ERS gave me a heart attack!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. For his sake I hope he's not crucified by his team mates - talk about a tough season they've had...but then again the 49ers have had a tough season as well.

It'll be Philly vs Tennesee... too bad I just don't think Tenn has what it takes to beat the Eagles.

Yesterday was amazing for football. I was awestruck at both games.

However: I thought the Pitt/Clevland game was better played throughout.

I'd strike it down to gitters and nervousness - that and inexperience is what caused that foul up - what an incredible foul up - had they been able to get the kick off the chances were the 49ers would've lost - it was only a 40 yrd kick attempt.

And regarding that - wwhat on earth were the 49ers defense thinking/doing that allowed the giants to get that far into field goal position anyway - letting huge yardage passes get completed and such - i mean for fucks sake - the kickoff return was bad enough, but their defense dropped the ball in that last minute. thank goodness for large errors.
There's no way that process took 5 seconds. That snap was picked up in less than one second. By the time the clock ran out, a fatass lineman had already made it downfield.

Unless seconds tick off on an offensive penalty that late in the game, there is simply no way time would have expired. Than again, that might have taken the already shitty Bryant out of range.

Given the Giants' kicking game, a planned fake may have been the right call.

    Talk about sorrow. From ESPN:

"I tried to make the perfect snap instead of a good snap. You can't do that,'' Junkin said. "This is something I've done for 32 years, but not anymore. If you can't count on me at the end of the game, that's it, I'm done.

"I cost 58 guys a chance to go to the Super Bowl. I'd give anything in the world, except my family at this point, right now to still be retired."

  5. NFL says that the refs blew the call at the end of the game. Should've been a replay of downs. If that lineman had checked in with the officials before the game on his position, then that's definitely valid and there should've been another play at the end of the game.

I thought the same thing. A penalty is a penalty, and interference against an ineligible receiver is still interference.

  8. Actually what I think happened is that they called an ineligible receiver penalty on ANOTHER lineman, but didn't call the pass interference on the lineman that was actually eligible. That's what I got from that article anyways.

  9. Reno's right. The illegal man downfield was lineman Tam Hopkins. Rick Seubert - who was interfered with - was lined up as an eligible receiver. The penalty against Hopkins for being downfield should have been negated by the never-made PI call for the Niners' interference of Seubert. The negation would have resulting in a replay of the down, which would have resulted in Matt Bryant choking and missing wide left anyway .

  10. I see.
