Thread: RE 2 & 3 Coming to GCN This Week

  1. RE 2 & 3 Coming to GCN This Week

I was checking EBGames today when I noticed that Resident Evil 2 & 3 are shipping for the GameCube this week, and was curious if anything has been revealed of the games being more than the announced straight ports?

If not, at $39.99, straight ports of the titles might not be worth shelling out for. I would feel better, however, paying the $20 that the Dreamcast ports debutted at.

But, who knows -- maybe Capcom has something up its sleeve on these releases.

  2. Shouldn't we all be used to overpriced straight ports on Nintendo systems?
Seriously though, $40 is a bit much. $20 would be the perfect price point.

  3. Not to me.

I'm not a fan of RE 2 and 3's settings. The police station and Racoon city just don't do it, atmosphere-wise, for me. I love the mansion and the train just seems cool, but otherwise nothing keeps me wanting to play through them.

Resident Evil 1 is pretty much the only RE I will spend my money on.

  5. Well, I love RE2 and Nemesis. They are more action packed, and I loved the streets of Raccoon city, overflown with zombies. Nemesis was excellent villian, and his Stars growl, still gives me the chills.

I think $40 for these ports is too much. I dont think they done anything to improve the games, so expect pretty much DC ports. That sucks. I would've preffered if they remade RE2 or Nemesis to REmake.

  6. Whoever buys these at $40 each is a complete tool. I truly resent Capcom for not giving these the remake treatment.

I can see a lot of people who bought the RE1 remake returning these newer ones to the store. It's ridiculous to remake one game and not the others. It should be all or nothing.

  8. You know, when they were first announced I could have SWORN Capcom stated they'd only be $19.99 each, then reversed themselves and jacked up the price to $39.99 sometime down the road.

In any case, I've already owned RE2 twice (PSX, N64) and RE3 twice (PSX, DC) and I don't play on buying the latest ports until the prices drop to at LEAST $19.99, which I was originally anticipating.

Sad part is, I wonder how many uninformed gamers will go out and buy these thinking the graphics had been totally revamped ala the RE remake last year, only to get home and play the same damn game that's already been released on 2 or 3 other platforms.
    omg TNL epics!

  9. yeah they have stated numerous times they'd only be $20.....sorry $40 is just rediculous.

and if anybody buys these thinking they're going to look like 0 and the remake they should be shot. that's what the back of the box is for

I have heard that Capcom wanted to sell the games at $19.99, but Nintendo's licensing fees made that painful, if not impossible.
