Thread: Looking for some opinions on a few games

  1. Looking for some opinions on a few games

I still have about $30 left on my Best Buy Giftcard and was thinking about picking up a game or 2. Right now I'm leaning towards Tenchu and Mega Man X4 but I've heard that both those games are quite short and may not be worth buying. I don't really know a whole lot about Smuggler's Run, SSX Tricky, or Nascar Thunder, but I remember all three games getting pretty good reviews. And for the record, all of these games are $14.99, so price is not an issue.

    Tenchu
    Mega Man X4
    Smuggler's Run: Warzones
    SSX Tricky (GC)
    Nascar Thunder 2003 (GC)

  2. Well, Only played one game from your list:

Tenchu, Excelent stealth/action ninja game. Great music, fun gameplay, cool environments and characters. A Classic.

  3. Tenchu, the first, is great! Tenchu 2 is a bunch of clutch butt.

    MMX4 is good too.

  4. Tenchu 1 is indeed a classic must have PSX title, and still the best ninja game I’ve ever played, buy it now!
MMX4 is great as well, classic MegaMan X action, so you should know what to expect. It’s also tougher than most MegaMan games.

  5. I highly recommend X4.

  6. Definitely pick up Tenchu. X4 is a fun, little game as long as you go into it with realistic expectations.

    Tenchu

Very good game, but hasn't necessarily aged all that well.

    Mega Man X4

Probably the best of the X series. Worth the $15.

    Smuggler's Run: Warzones

    Bleh. It's okay.

    SSX Tricky (GC)

A great game that is rendered nearly impossible by the GC controller. It just wasn't designed for it, and when the game demands you pull off tricks like "hold down, then left on the d-pad, hold L-trigger and Z, then press b, then r-trigger, l-trigger, z and up on the d-pad, all while holding left on the analogue", you're guaranteed to pop a knuckle, then an aneurysm.

    Nascar Thunder 2003 (GC)

A mediocre racing game based on my least favourite motorsport. EA's is supposed to be much better, but it's still NASCAR, a sport which makes for a really, really dull videogame.

  8. I picked up SSX Tricky for 10 bucks at Kay-Bee right after Christmas and I'd highly recommend it. There are some issues with the Cube controller as StriderKyo mentioned, but once you get the hang of using the d-pad it's not that bad. The game requires you to pull off a few insane tricks to unlock extra outfits for characters, but IMO the rest of the game's fun factor far outweighs the control issues. Read Nick's mind-blowing review- it helped me decide to go ahead and get it.

Tenchu is awesome. The dark atmosphere is perfect, the music is excellent and it's damn fun sneaking up on guys. It's the second-best ninja game ever made.

Megaman X4 is another good Megaman game. Fans of the series will enjoy it.

To? Ninja Gaiden II perhaps? Shinobi III?
