Here is all the information on Resident Evil 2 for GameCube.
-We can now skip in game scenes:
I'm surprised they didn't include this in the Dreamcast/N64/PC versions,
but pressing start in the GC version skips cut-scenes, takes you to a
three second black screen and gameplay is resumed.
-The "Resident Evil 2" voice at the title screen now sounds VERY
different:
I don't know how this happened, but a new person does the voice, akin to
the REmake of Resident Evil. o_O
-Strangely, the framerate is jittery:
While not that obvious, the GC game doesn't seem as smooth in animation
as the Dreamcast version, but they're both very close.
-The game looks very polished and cleaned when it comes to character
models, but very low quality when it comes to FMV and backgrounds. :/:
Surprisingly, the character models in the game surpass that even of the
Dreamcast versions. However, it's a surprise that the FMV actually
wasn't compressed.
-No EX Files:
This is a disappointment, especially since the EX Files link the entire
story together. Why couldn't Capcom put them in?
-1 Disc:
Contrary to what Capcom's Rey Jimenez e-mailed me, the GameCube version
is on one medium like the N64 version. The title screen was a surprise.
You first pick a story (Leon or Claire), and then you're taken to the
title screen again. If you have the Dual Shock RE2, it usually says
"DUAL SHOCK Ver." In the GC version, it now says "LEON'S STORY." Same
with Claire. You can get to the other story from the options screen.
-Controls:
They ripped the REmake controls onto the GameCube version (with the
exception of the auto-turn, which is still absent). This means that Type
C controls are present for those whiners.
-Sound:
The GameCube version sounds a lot weirder, to be honest. The voices
seemed a little muffled, but surprisingly clear.
-Availability:
Get these if you get the chance, because Capcom shipped a limited
amount. My local Target sold out of RE2, and sold RE3 for $49.99 (which
is why I didn't buy it yet).
-FMV Intro:
Leon's intro FMV plays first, then if you wait a few seconds, Claire's
will then play. Sometimes, it's the complete reverse.
