Say what you want about Nazi Germany, but they were at least 5 years ahead of almost every other country Engineering wise (save for the Spitfire v. Me-109) at least.

They were cruel, ruthless and efficient, but good god almighty they could make some crazy shit, ie. tanks that could take out 5 shermans and survive, rocket technology, the first assault rifle and the only machine gun produced back then that is still in service as is.
