Damn what a real slow week in japan.. i guess people didnt feel like buying games this week...

    One notable i guess..
Ikuraga was 31, with 5,310 How did that compare to Ikuraga on dc?

  2. Ikaruga on DC sold around 28K copies total.

  3. i think ikaruga's first week did better on DC, but probably mainly due to the insane amount of US preorders.. (those are counted, right?)
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

  4. Xbox Live made it on there?
    Wow.

  5. I tought people liked sales...

is that a succes for the xbox?

    no.

dengeki's numbers poll games that were sold through japanese retail. the copies of ikaruga sold through NCS and other US import retailers would not be counted -- also many of them were possibly secured through distributors in HK, so that would also not be accounted for in japanese numbers.

back when shenmue 2 euro was NCS' best selling game, they mentioned it sold around 50,000 copies. ikaruga for DC is now their best selling game by a wide margin, according to them.

ikaruga for GC was destined for failure because the platform can't support anything but games targeted at its core audience. eternal arcadia legend never even charted -- it sold about 7500 in its first week according to famitsu (i have a friend who has access to the full chart of weekly sales from enterbrain.) that system is really depressing in japan in some ways.

    no, it's a dismal failure.

but it *is* comparatively successful for something xbox-related in japan.

the best selling game for the platform is still DOA3, which has sold no more than 150k copies, tops. then halo at ~55k, and then a bunch of sub-30k-titles, and then poo.

  8. So PSO outsold zelda? interesting.

*EDIT* my mistake, I was shown an alternate top 10 earlier today and Zelda and Xbox live were flip flopped

Ikaruga DC debuted at no. 6 with around 16,000 units sold. Those Cube sales are pretty sad but the game is getting a chane to sell over here at least.

Err about the 50,000 copies of Shemnue 2, that can't be the amount NCS sold themselves, that would mean Ikaruga sold 50,000+ and that has to be beyond the number of copies printed. Shemnue 2 DC sold 61,000 copies in it's first week in Europe BTW.

Incidentally, Magicbox published a end-of-year top ten for every Japanese consoles a few weeks back. The number 10 best selling Xbox title was roughly 12,000 units total. *-neo
