Thread: Comics.

  1. Comics.

Like the stuff we create on this side of the ocean. I know I'm not the only one here that reads "normal" comics. What are some of your favorites? Feel free to exbound...

    Some stuff I'm into:

Anything Brian Ralph makes. (Cave In, Climbing Out)

    JTHM (Just like everyone else)

The Red Star - I swear I can't give these books enough praise. I've never seen a book that looked and felt like watching a movie in this literal of a sense. The story isn't lacking in any department either. Check this out...

Goodbye, Chunky Rice - Chuck Thompson

Really, just about anything 'Top Shelf' puts out.

Andi Watson does some really good stuff (Slow News Day).

The Sandman - I don't think I need to explain this one...

I forget the fellows name, but the book is called 'Flood.' It's only pictures, with a minimal amount of text in the end. Really creative.

    Who else...?
    Boo, Hiss.

  2. -uncanny X-men: haven't cared about X-men in years but it's actually getting interesting again. northstar kicks ass. New X-men still doesn't interest me as much....may have something to do with Frank Quitely's art

    -Sojourn

  3. Hate (any pete bagge stuff really)
    Bone
    Akiko on the Planet Smoo
Alot of the "one of" stuff from Fantagraphics Books is good

    non-indie stuff

    Frank Miller
    The Tick books
    Eric Larson

Uhm...yea, thats about it. I'll list specific titles and such later, but right now I'm multi-tasking like crazy.

  4. Right now, all I am reading is "Out There", pretty good so far. I need to out and get somemore stuff.

Also, I cant get enough of re-reading "Kingdom Come".
"I see the world didn't end yesterday."

    "Are you sure?"

  5. Stormwatch: Team Achilles
    Bone
    Liberty Meadows
    Midnight Nation
Shonen Jump (best bang for buck on the market)
    Hellboy
Never under any circumstance scrutinize the mastication orifice of a gratuitous herbivorous quadruped.

  6. I think this would be better in Sound Off but anyway:

    Alias
    Ultimate Spider-Man
    Amazing Spider-Man
    Ultimates
    Uncanny X-Men
    Ultimate X-Men
    Avengers
    Thor
    Exiles
    Black Panther
    100 Bullets
    JSA
    JLA
    Daredevil
    Stormwatch Team Achilles
    The Flash
    Green Arrow
    GI Joe
    Batman
    Extreme X-Men

God damn, that's alot. On any given week I'll pick up a random book from a smaller publisher, or a self published book that catches my eye.

  7. There were a couple big comic book threads in Sound Off, the monthly one keeps popping back up. Anyways, I just bought Creature Tech.

  8. I've liked some of Vasquez's stuff in the past, but JTHM is complete crap.

    I (casually) read...
    -
    Stray Bullets
    Sandman
    SPX releases
    some Marvel Essentials
    the occasional Fantastic Four

    and of course...
    -
    Watchmen
    lots of Frank Miller
    Maus

  9. I borrowed JTHM from a friend and I didn't like it either. "oooh, johnny kills someone! weeee!"

  10. The book really isn't about him killing people; that's just what draws the kiddies in. It's really about Vasquez trying to find a place for himself in the world. Johnny is the same way. At least that's what I get out of it, from the interviews and context... :/
    Boo, Hiss.
