Neato, EGM had something about this last issue in their upcoming games in 2003 thing. Looks interesting. But whats the gameplay like do you know?
Now that Disaster Report is close to its release date, it seems Agetec has finally seen fit to take the wraps off their US version of Rakugaki Kingdom. For those who haven't heard of it, it's an RPG based around drawing your own characters onscreen in 2D, after which the characters pop up in full 3D. The name "Color Quest" is pretty lame though, IMO, and suspicious...perhaps the rumored Crayola license is going ahead after all (god, I hope not). Fenegi has an article and screens up for us at gamepro.com:

If anybody wants to see the original tech demo the game's scribbling is based on, follow the link below. It's really pretty incredible, IMO.

Edit: Also, there are some movies of how the drawing system works in the game on the game's Japanese website here:

Barf! Barf! Barf!
Oh will get Rakugaki Showtime...once Tiny Toons : Defenders of the Loonyverse is released. You knew I was gonna think you meant Rakugaki Showtime.
the scenario in this game is by studio ghibli (yes, that studio ghibli.)
but agetec was talking about killing that and replacing it with the crayola license (not kidding) when they first picked up the license. it's unclear whether they've mended their evil ways.
Didn't EGM do a short articl on this? Looks damn good. I may rent it though.
I would love to play this game
to bad I dont a PS2
but I think this is one of the nicest ideas in a long time
Drawing your own strange monsters is just to cool
Wow, the narrator's voice in that movie is really funny.
That program looks really cool, too.
