Details about Unreal Championship patch

There's an article on PlanetXbox about what the UC patch will include. It looks like it's not just standard patch and will include some maps and stuff.

Here's the article:

First and foremost, it seems that the first Unreal Championship will be available in the next few weeks, with things such as fixes for gameplay (such as the CTF – MAUL glitch) and stat exploits, new maps (including a new CTF map in an outdoor Antalus-type setting, Inferno, and a DM Map in an ocean laboratory). Moreover, another gothic-style map similar to Molten is expected to happen. Other things for the first update, which is apparently not going to be the last update, will include servers for auto-aiming, faster frame rates, as well as the option to turn Anti-Aliasing on or off. Of course, most importantly, the update will be mandatory for all players.

Sounds very interesting, especially the auto-aiming and frame rate improvements.

Well, I borrowed a copy from work, and found it pretty much unplayable due to the framerate. Once the patch is out, I'll try it again I suppose, simply because I *really* wanted to like this game.

fuck.. i'm getting an xbox tomorrow and was going to pick unreal up for $25 at EB, but if the framerate is a big issue, forget it..

The game is not unplayable but it is somewhat bothersome at times, especially on some of the nuttier maps. However, if you read the first post in this thread, you will see that they are working on it.

I guess this means that DE/Epic put in some optimized code to speed it up, and the ability to turn off AA will likely help too.

I found the framerate to be a huge issue. It was far too inconsistent for me, and I usually don't care about such things. I've also seen people claim the problem is online only, ("The patch is ok cuz it's solely addressing online problems!") but it was really awful offline for me, too. It dipped a ton on the first level, which is very small and has a single bot. I remember spinning in a circle just to watch the game stutter. Pathetic. I only found it playable if I hosted a game or played system link, which turns AA off and results in a smoother framerate.

I'd wait until the patch is actually released to buy the game. All that extra MechAssault content was supposed to be available what, a month ago? And that was delayed from launch? Has that Ghost Recon patch been released yet? Or just buy a copy and don't open it until the patch is out, since you never know how long this EB price will last.

I had a dream last night that I was playing this game on xbox live, which is odd since I've never played this game or xbox live... I think my xbox is sending me subliminal messages again. Maybe the modchip drove it insane or something.
