I use a mach 3 - but shave downwards... I outta try going up. Never again will I use disposables... they are just awful. Its worth paying some decent money for a good blade like the Mach 3.
Well, I only have to shave a small portion of my face, since I want the rest to remain intact.
But I never use cream/gel, and go both w/ and against the grain.

Personally I'd advise against the Mach 3 Turbo unless you have an unlimited blade budget or have a very light beard. They feel nice against the skin but they wear out twice as quickly as regular Mach 3 blades (I generally wear out a blade in a week and the Turbos lasted 3-4 days at most).Originally posted by Chibi Nappa
Oh, and use a Gillette Mach III. Or even better, a Mach III Turbo.
I'm convinced that Gillette specifically designed them to wear out faster to sell more blades.

Soak some towels in water as hot as you can stand, and keep them against your face for a while to moisten and warm your face. Then, get a good lather going with the shaving cream, and rub it into the hair with against the grain strokes. Shave with the grain, rinsing the razor in as-hot-as-possible water. Use a cold cloth to clean your face off once you're done.
That's always worked for me - I use a Mach 3. Using a brush to get the shaving cream into your beard helps, but I don't really think it's necessary. I also don't think it's worth shaving the same area more than once...the hair's just going to grow back anyways, so no real need to try for perfectly smooth skin.
>_< if im going to take the time to groom myself I want baby smooth skin. Instead I get stuble like Arthus from the cover of wc3.
Do you shave every day? Shaving becomes much more work for me (and razor burn becomes much more likely) if I'm trying to machete my way through two or three days' worth of hair.
A few years ago, I would go for 3 or 4 days at a time without shaving, and because of that the inevitable shave was always a pain - now that I do the job daily, it goes by painlessly and quickly.
That is odd. I tend to get my best shave when I leave it alone for a week, trim it as much as I can with eltric hair clippers, then hit with a mach3. Its not untill recently that ive tried to do it everyday that its starting to be such a pain. I'm also wondering if my sudden high intake of caffinne has anything to do with it. Because sense ive started drinking mainly caf beverages I have noticed a increase in acne. Maybe its having a effect on my pores and skin texture.
Everyone uses the mach3 because the alternatives are ass.
And on another note, while looking for info on shaving, I found a site that sales 600$ mach3 handles.
