Thread: Half-Life for the Dreamcast released...

  1. Half-Life for the Dreamcast released...

    Sega WorldWeekly

Half Life on Dreamcast - Out Now!

Dust off your Dreamcast, the un-released Half-Life just got
released! Several years ago the game was completed but due
to reasons unknown, never made it out the gate. Now however
someone has leaked the game onto the internet and as you
can imagine, it's spreading faster than... well it's
spreading fast. Searching through IRC and Newsgroups are
the best bets if you're after a copy.

Along with Half Life, the Dreamcast port includes the Blue
Shift expansion pack. Apparently the frame rate can drop a
bit at times, and loading is a little long, but overall
it's great to see Half Life running on the old Dreamcast.

  2. Awesome. I was hoping that a company like Good Deal Games would get the rights to it, but this is much better.

  3. The game is only worth a round , if it had online play. It's already out on P.C. and PS2.

  4. Wait, you're saying I can play Half-Life in WinCE AND with glitches and low framerates?!

  5. Glitches? Probably no more so than the PC version. Also, for those of us who actually played the game when it first came out, low frame rates are a nostalgic thing.

I knew it would get leaked someday.

  6. I never have been very good at downloading and getting games like this to work. If anyone gets a copy and would not mind making me one, please let me know

  7. i tried it last night. impressions:

vga support looks great, or at least as good as the pc version does at 640 by 480. framerate fluxuates from 20 fps to 60 depending on the complexity of what's onscreen, though it seems to stay around 30 most of the time.

controls are fully customizable, but the dreamcast controller can't handle all the keys very well. ie. it's very difficult to move and jump at the same time. i think that the game is compatible with a dreamcast mouse and keyboard, but i haven't tried it out.

as for the game itself, i didn't really play for very long because of the constant loading screens (roughly 10-15 seconds each).

overall, the game is decidedly underwhelming when compared to the pc version, not that anyone expected otherwise. still, it's pretty cool to try out an unreleased game. hopefully, someone will leak propeller arena.

I just sent you a personal message. I am in nj too. Could you make me a copy and send it to me. I will pay shipping and for your time.

  9. Low frame rates... more like Half-Assed.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
