I've only played Sakura Taisen 3: Paris is Burning, but I feel safe saying that you'll not regret what you just did!
I had to do it the same way you are. A translation FAQ...a loooooooooooooong translation FAQ. I began questioning whether or not it was worth it at around chapter 13, since every chapter's FAQ was aproximatly 64 pages long (that's 832 pieces of printer paper...thank God for the school computer lab!), however, the engrossing story, knock-down, drag-out visuals, and plain old fun had me hooked!

Heh, I have ST3 paused right now. Playing through it to gear myself up for the remake.
I'd advise printing the translation at work. Cheaper that way.

Yepp. Good old college library. The translation [featured on http://lando.ngphouse.com/sakura/] is only about 90 pages in Word, so that isn't too bad...

I actually played through all of Sakura Taisen using one of the Gamefaqs' ST1 translations - and I enjoyed the game. Really surprised me, since I usually detest RPGs. I recommend the experience.
