Nothing special, it all depends on what angle you hit them from. The throat-slit is if you come from directly behind them. Then there's behind-left, behind-right, front (if you catch them in time), above (still not sure how to do that). Not sure if there's any others.

Well, the game's out today (Wednesday)!!!! I'm heading over to Gamestop during lunch. I'll post impressions later.

  4. Game will be mine in 3 hours Wont be able to play it till later tonight though, but I will post impressions as well, as I watch DJ play it.

  5. well, normally you have to hold R2 to perform a stealth kill, am i correct?

in that case, you wouldn't be able to hold R2 while jumping off a roof onto a guy's head because R2 + jump does that spinning flip in midair.. (which is awesome.. i'm so glad they didn't forget to include that detail from T1)..

so anyway, i'll give it a few more tries this afternoon before i go to work.

  6. I just reat the IGN review...I can't believe how overwhelmingly positive it was. The game sounds amazing! The level design alone sounds almost genius. While I can't cut and paste the whole review for non-Insiders, I will include a few snippets I found especially cool:
What I like this time around is the improved level design. In the Bamboo Forest, for instance, there are multiple paths throughout the level. There are hidden tunnels to crawl through, sneaky side routes over cliff tops, multiple footpaths and plenty of cavern hallways, just in this one level.
It should be noted that the two-player modes are exceptionally fun. They are probably the game's biggest surprise. They're REALLY fun.
You'll meet up with martial arts characters that deliver spinning helicopter kicks and similar combos of their own, ninjas that can slit your throat, killing you instantly, and enemies that read you moves better than they ever have in this series.
But what Activision has done so well this time is to layer the three stories of Rikimaru, Ayame and Tesshu into one rich narrative. You play through as say, Rikimaru, and you'll get one side of the story, but when you play though again as Ayame or Tesshu, you'll get another angle on the same story
The Limestone Caverns offer an excellent set of hallways and platform-style areas to sneak through using smart grappling hook techniques and staying careful of bottomless pits. One level, the Amagai Castle is based entirely on tricks and traps, swiveling secret doors and trick rooms that lock you inside with gas or explosives.
I can't wait to play this!!!

  10. I have it in my possession and looking at it, as I write this post. I've got another 2.5 hours till I get to go home, and then I still have to wait till DJ gets back from his Taekwondo class. But at least I can read the manual and look at the pretty pictures on the back of the box
