Thread: May the death threats begin... (Zelda:WW scores)

  1. Zelda games get high scores and critical acclaim because they deserve them. The track record of the series is unrivaled.
At the beginning of the 3d era it seemed like every month people were claiming something new to be the "best game ever". I haven't seen that happen since Ocarina of Time, and for good reason.

Ocarina of Time is not the best game of all time. In fact, its not even the best game in its series.

Maybe journalists stopped using that phrase because they realized how fucking stupid and idiotic it was, and that it lost all of its meaning by the 3rd time they did it?

  3. In fact, its not even the best game in its series.
    I would say it is.

I think OoT is better than LttP. I guess it was just nostalgia that told me otherwise, but it was clear as day as soon as I played through Zelda 3 for the umpteenth time on the GBA. Not to say that LttP is a bad game by ANY goddamned measure, just that OoT is just as good, and moreso.

Anyway, EGM's the same magazine that gave GTA:VC 3 perfect 10's, which it DEFINITELY does not deserve. So go figure.

It's true though. A Zelda game can be seriously lacking in many areas (not that it would) and reviewers would still give it good scores, basically cuz it's a Zelda game.

Simply by naming this game Zelda, they pretty much guaranteed themselves a 9.0 in every mag, before any code was even written.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

I have a hard time believing that. I really doubt Nintendo could release a heaping pile of crap, name it Zelda and get 9.0's.

Now GTA on the other hand...

  7. Not sure if this was posted here before but it's a really good interview with Miyamoto and the director of Wind Waker. They talk about a few other games too.

Bah, say what you will - new or not, your opinion is yours.

I'm guessing I'll like Wind Waker; even if it's the lesser of all Zeldas, that wouldn't make it less fun than it is in and within itself.

Well barring any huge, gigantic, and blatant gameplay faults of course, I'd say it's true.

Just look at FF8. Or Mario Sunshine. Or Vice City. Big names are immue to low scores, no matter what they do wrong.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

That's only a testament to the quality of the series.

We wouldn't know, because it hasn't happened.
