Thread: Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 XBOX not Live

  1. Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 XBOX not Live

Capcom announced today that their XBOX port of Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Superheroes will not be compatible with the XBOX Live service. They did not specify a reason, but the most likely explanation would be the factor of lag in such a fast-paced game. It is still set for a release on March 11, 2003. If you bought an XBOX solely for Marvel vs. Capcom 2, you're out $200. Sorry for your luck.

You can read Capcoms' full release statement <a href="http://www.capcom.com/news/news.xpml?prid=450049">here</a>.

  2. Might as well be dead. It's going to have abysmal sales now.

  3. looking at how good CvS2 is running, I don't see what their point is. (or lack of)

If we can play through kawaks and mame, they don't know what the F**k they're talking about! (lazy bastards...)
don't wanna tangle with you, I'd rather tangle with him.
I think I'm gonna bash his head in...

  4. It's just... stupid. Really, really stupid. I can't think of any possible justification for it other than some perverse hatred for Microsoft.

  5. ...

Well in a sick selfish way, I'm glad because I can't afford broadband and I would have to for this game, because I absolutely love it, but seriously it sucks. See I was hoping this would lead to other games being online like SSFTX, S3:TS, etc.--hell they could just port all the Capcom fighters from DC and make them live and give the gaming community something good for once...I knew CvS2 was too good believe...it looks like it may be the only online fighter for a while (maybe ever)...

    ( from Gamefaqs )

I was so mad today about Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 today not going on Xbox live that I actually went out and wrote them an e-mail. I truly didn't expect to get a response, but they responded to me in only a few hours. Read the reply below:

It was our intention for a long time to have Marvel VS Capcom 2 X-Box LIVE compatible. The game was being developed to work with LIVE. Unfortunately, due to some recent legal issues beyond Capcom's control, the LIVE capabilities of the game had to be taken out. That's is all that we can say about it.

We apologize and understand if this disappoints the many gamers that have been waiting for an online version of Marvel VS Capcom 2, but faced with the dilemma of releasing the game without LIVE support or not releasing it at all, Capcom decided to release it without LIVE support.

We will be sure to let you and all our avid fans out there know of any new developments as they arise. You should also continue to monitor our web site for the latest information regarding Promotions, New Game Releases, and Industry News.

  7. Oh well, I wasn't planning on buying the game anyway. Still disappointing, though.
