Thread: DonDonPachi, whats the deal with Bee Storm?

  1. DonDonPachi, whats the deal with Bee Storm?

Okay, I've play DonPachi, and DoDonPachi, and I've heard of DoDonpachi: Bee Storm, and DoDonPachi Dai Jou (sp?). Over at another board I frequent the PGM gets a little bit of discussion, and I'm confused on one thing.

Some people have told me Bee Storm is not a true DoDonPachi game. It kinda makes sense seeing as Bee Storm does not have the same developer as the other 3. I know IGS is a Hong Kong company, but did they use the DDP name without consent? Or is Bee Storm an actual DDP game farmed out to a 3rd party, for another system? Or is it none of those, and it is a side story, using the DDP license?

  2. Farmed out, yes.

  3. Short article: http://www.stickycarpet.com/dam/dodon2.htm

The gameplay is a joke when compared to DDP. One can easily rack up huge chains without even trying.

  4. Everything about it also seemed like more of a ripoff of its predecessor than a sequel. It's a decent enough shooting game but it's got no business with the DDP name.

  5. I dunno guys, I thought it was very nice. By no means as good as the original but I certainly wouldn't turn down a $50 port of it. Right now though the cost of the board and cart is too high for what it is.

  6. DDP 2: Bee Storm does look like a fanmade rehash. They should have called it DDP Gaiden instead.

That's just awful when you can't use the Blast Bomb and the Laser Bomb in the same game. The reviewer seems rather disappointed. Bee Storm has jack shit for extra features.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

  7. But it is acknowledged by cave, right? Because Dai-Ou-Jou says Donpachi chapter 4.
