Nah, we need just the opposite of more controller ports. I seriously don't want to see any controller ports on the next generation of systems. There is no reason why all of them can't have wireless controllers exclusively. Build the reciver right into the console.

Oh yeah, having the PS3 depend on 72 other PS3's to play correctly is rediculous. I can just see myself on ebay 20 years from now trying to buy 48 extra PS3's so I can keep playing my old games....

  2. 1000 times more powerful sounds evil or something like that.

  3. Sony should go to the developers of the titles which are the reason their PS2 sold and ask them what they want in a PS3. Doing anything else is plain stupid.

Again, it seems like the chip has 72 processors on it's own.

The chip is modular and basically crams a whole bunch of processors into one chip. You don't need other people to play the games. That's my impression reading the article. The network their talking about it a network between all it's own processors.

I don't think that's too much to ask of it.

  6. I'm still waiting for The Phantom to come out.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

Sony pratically has a monopoly on the home console industry. They have such a massive user base they could release a total piece of shit and it would still sell out for months after release. In fact, Sony could fake shortages of the console at launch to create artifical demand and drive sales even more. Start by throwing a few flat out lies to the media (well in advance, mind you) and you've got a winner. It worked with the PS2 - people love this shit.

I don't know if Sony can dick up their control like Nintendo did. It'll take some massive mistakes, a major push by another competitor (MS?), and a whole lot of luck to topple this behemoth.

Hell. I don't care. I'll go where the games go.

  8. That was only launch sales. It's the big titles like FFX and GTA:VC that keep it selling after release.

It is but Sony doesn't care. They've got their huge mainstream market that developers are afraid to give up because they think the gamers won't follow the games or something.

I love the idea of wireless controllers like wavebird in a system. Since the controllers are built in you could put a battery charger or something in the system so you can recharge your controller batteries while not playing. That's practical use. The only problem is that if the batteries run out while playing a game or something lame like that.

Negitoro brings up a solid point. Why do we need so many processors when games can be made into masterpieces with only 1 or 2?
