C'mon, guys. Dust off those NES decks (*cough*or emus*cough*) and play! My scores shouldn't that hard to beat...
I added Battletoads in case people are thinking these games are too easy.![]()
As much as I play the "modern" stuff (PS1 and beyond), I always seem to come back to the NES and TurboGrafx for my gaming fix when I get tired of cumbersome RPGs and vast, 3D worlds to explore. I invite all of you to start score threads with your favorite 8-bit games.
Super Mario Bros.
Rules are as follows: One "credit" only. No Koopa/Beetle-stairway-1up tricks. This is for the first loop only (the score resets when you beat the game, anyway). Provide score, world, and version of game (NES, Famicom, Arcade, etc.).
1) OmegaFlareX - 756,550 - World 8-4 - NES (SMB + Duck Hunt)
2) ?
3) ?
4) ?
5) ?
Gyruss
Rules are as follows: This is for the NES version only. One "credit" only. No 30-lives code. Provde score, area, and control type.
1) OmegaFlareX - 574,450 - Stage 31 - Type A
2) ?
3) ?
4) ?
5) ?
Battletoads
Rules are as follows: One "credit" only. No extra lives code. Provide score and area.
1) OmegaFlareX - 683,900 - Stage 8 (Elevator Shaft)
2) ?
3) ?
4) ?
5) ?

Well, I'll admit your thread made me wanna try but I can't find the power cord for my NES... I'll try as soon as I find it though... promise...
Can I used MAME gyruss?
Sure, the NES version is a straight port of the arcade game, isn't it? I guess you'll find out if your score is drastically higher or lower than mine by the time you get to stage 31.
Stage 31? I don't think the arcade version has stages. I think it's planet based.
I might try sometime later with the nes version via emu though.
Stage 31 is the one that ends with the Venus boss. I went in with no extra lives, and I got creamed about 3 seconds into the battle.![]()
NES Gyruss, and the arcade version, are very different.
