MLB 2002 officially cancelled

Sorry MLB fans, maybe next year says 989 Sports..


989 Sports will not be bringing a baseball game to the PS2 market this year. MLB 2002 was scheduled to appear on PS2 this spring, but due to several factors, the game was officially cancelled.

"We had to make two goals," said a 989 Studios representative. "The games have to be of exceptionally high quality and they had to be released at the beginning of the season. And basically, we couldn't meet those goals. The games would have pushed it into mid-season, and so we decided to wait, so that next year's games will be deep and impactful.

Sony's 989 Sports division plans to deliver MLB 2003 next year. We'll have more on it soon.

They did the same thing with NBA Shootout 99 (It never came out) but don't get your hopes up because NBASO200 ended up sucking.
