Thread: Disobey.

  1. That's my point Clash. I am saying to be skeptical of everyone and to consider the source. I personally do not believe sources unless I consider the background and motivation of the source and what is being reported. The motivation of the reporter, and so on.

I don't want you or anyone to believe anything I post at face value either! What I am saying is to do your own research. Use common sense. Look at multiple sources from different angles. From different places. Consider the message people have and what their motivation is. You can never be certain of anything, if you want to get philosophical, but all I expect of people is to think critically and to be open minded. The key to being a smart person is to constantly evaluate and re-evaluate your opinions and positions. To be open minded. Never take anything as gospel.

The only people who I have really argued with directly here have been close minded people.

    Unlike yourself.
I guess I should take your word for it, but I won't.

I would define an "Anti-American" as a person like you, who does not respect the right of people to have different political views.
Actually, you're once again arguing with someone else.

Well, here's one of my favorites... I'm sure as left as you are, you'll appreciate it.

Since I don't respect your right to free speech

You've probably also done extensive research on international news sources, UN studies, and world history as well - this way you can debunk anything "Anti-American". You know a fact when you see it and you know EXACTLY who to believe: CNN, Time Magazine, George W. Bush, and your elementary school text book. Right on!

I'll bet you have even studied the history of propaganda, because you can clearly spot it when you see it! Bravo!
Soo sorry that your little crackpot article couldn't pass off as something legitmate from my point of view (and a few others). I say that because those views have been shot down elsewhere. Anyway, you pretty much ignored my reasonable responses and went off an some tangent, again going by your prejudice... Good that you moved off to Canaduh... One less arrogant elitist...

Aaahh... there it is.. the typical finale with the use of "close minded"... Translation: if you don't agree with -me-, you're close minded... Alright... that's good to know.. thx.

Wow. You sure pegged me right. Believing in socialism and equality is very very elitist!

    Oh yeh, and prejudiced too.

That's actually the very basis of such beliefs.

Well then you must understand that people are questioning your motivations as well. When I read posts by you, and see you posting various articles I get the feeling that your motivations is to change the opinion of someone else that is geared closer to your opinion. And then you say to welcome all others opinions and perspectives. By posting things like this "Disobey" article you want people to read that for a certain reaction. And if the reaction is in agreeance you seem to say "Bravo you agree with me!" and then if some one states why they think that the article is a peice of trash you slam back with retaliation and objection. I would imagine that by what you have said at times that you would welcome these peoples perspectives rather than lash out at them.

But I guess I am judging you on "Face" value. I suppose I should research you more. But all I have to go one is what you have said on these boards, and thats the impression I am getting.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

  5. Ya know, that's what pissed me off about the topic as well... I saw the "Disobey" and the "People need to see, the new enemy...", and I thought the motive behind it is one of those, "Hey Americans, take a look around.. perhaps your real enemy is your government... hmmm...". Then you look at the actual website and find it's more of the same... Painting America as the bad guy in almost everything there, finding articles on anarchy, anti-war, communism etc.. so, the words insurgency and subversion came to mind... I mean, should you not be a little bit worried about sites like that? Should you not be a little bit worried that freedom of speech is being abused a bit??? Maybe I just get paranoid sometimes, I dunno. The simple dismissal of it all as just free speech bothers me too. But hey, that's me.. call me paranoid.
