Thread: Running from the law

  1. It's happened to me. I mean, in my avatar I AM shooting at at and blowing up a cop car.

Seriously, though, it did happen to me once as a kid (mid-teens). I had set a Post Office mailbox on fire (stupid, I know). I was walking past the post office one night, saw the mailbox, and got a stupid urge. I lit a little piece of rope on fire with my lighter (I didn't smoke, but I had one anyway) and stuffed it in the mailbox. I proceeded to forget about it and walk to 7-11 to get a Slurpee. On the way back I could see the smoke billowing out of the mailbox, so I decided NOT to pass by the scene of the crime and took an alternate route home. Anyway, I'm walking down this one block and I notice a car slowing driving down it behind me. My spider-sense goes off and I hide behind a tree. The car passes. I start walking again. The car comes back only this time I don't notice it. Suddenly, and an off-duty cop (or undercover cop, he wasn't in uniform) jumped out and yelled, "Stop! Police!". Naturally, I ran. I cut across somebody's lawn and over their fence, and the cop started chasing me through people's backyards. I actually impressed myself at how acrobatic I was vaulting and jumping over all those fences. I just barely managed to get away when I climbed over a fence that he couldn't manage to get over, the fat bastard. That was pretty scary. Needless to say, I had learned my lesson, and my pyromaniac days were over from then on.

Now THAT was a good story.

I have not had any run-ins with the police, however. I've never done anything worth being chased for. However, my dad could tell you some good ones.

I've had my run-ins, but I'm very good about facing the music honestly and like a man.

Running is for sissies. If you're afraid of the consequences, then don't do it in the first place.
I don't see how running away is cowardly, unless you want to take a stand, just giving up seems stupid.

Sometimes other people do dumb shit without you knowing about it, and the stupid ass cops won't listen to reason. So rather than waste my time dealing with an unreasonable ass, I just got the fuck out of there. Running from the cops is a weekly exercise in the hood.

  5. I've been pulled over by the police (speeding), but never ran from them, nor would I ever lose my brain enough to do that.

    Thanks!

  7. A couple of times, you should see how cops chase you riding a dirt bike on public property... I did get got once though that was when I was under 18 though so it's not on my record

In my younger days my friends and I would frequently ditch cops who were after us for speeding. I would never, ever try to outrun a cop with the lights flashing, that's too dangerous when you consider that a ticket is no big deal, but if the cop was turning around after we passed the other way, or if we could see him way back trying to catch up to us first... *vroom*

I am quite the law-abiding citizen, but around here if you are a teenager in a sports car (my friend, not me. I drove a Yugo then) the cops would pull you FOR NO FUCKING REASON and give you a "warning" ticket, just to bully you around to let you know they were watching so you wouldn't do anything.

Thanks to a severe state budget crisis, the city can't afford to have 5 cops on every major street radar checking cars now, they have to do REAL policework, apparently. If you get pulled for speeding now, you fucking deserve it.

  9. I have never felt compelled to run from the police. The one time I was arrested they attempted to claim that I did, but then again their police report was wholely ficticious and only lacked a golden unicorn with rainbow wings to make it the greatest work of fantasy ever, of course they needed to pin something on me since I had commited no crime to begin with. The charges were later dropped, I wonder why?

Let's just say, the German police may still be looking for him.
