Thread: We need new Miyamoto series

  1. Nintendo has a development team named "Eat A Dick?!"

    ...whoa...

*clap* *clap* *clap* that must have taken a whole five seconds to come up with that.

I'm only a few hours into Wind Waker and although it's an excellent game, there's still too much of a been there done that feeling. I'm not saying that Wind Waker is flawed or an unworthy sequel. It's as good of a sequel as could be expected from such a long running series. If someone has this as their first Zelda experience, they will be in gaming heaven.

I just miss having a brand new Miyamoto experience. Pikmin had that fresh Nintendo magic feeling for me but it wasn't quite as epic as Mario or Zelda. I would really love to see Miyamoto and EAD give us something completely new with the same kind of effort that's put into Mario and Zelda games.

    Do you agree/disagree?

I'm wondering, how much creative freedom do Nintendo teams have? Are things less or more restrictive in the post-Yamauchi era?
    Completely!

And you didn't say anything ridiculous like Nintendo changing Zelda. Why doesn't Matt Groening and Fox just change the Simpsons to a prehistoric family living in the Renaissance? Or something crazy and unfounded like this!? Okay, enough of the tangent.

If Nintendo should change anything it is the lack of newer franchises coming out of their company, HOWEVER, Eternal Darkness and Pikmin were good starts from Nintendo... now lets keep that ball rolling.

They need to prove they can make games in a relative mood to todays marketplace. (aka, not just tongue and cheek, but something mature) But as long as it has high quality gameplay, I'm all for it.

Sadly with Miyamoto doing European tours and working with OTHER companies to bring games to their platforms and to take advantage of the GBA - GC connectivity. (Metal Gear 4, EA's sports, Crystal Chronicles and Capcoms 5 - 6 titles)

    *sigh* To be young again....

    And also a robot...

  6. I'd rather have another Zelda game using the same engine as Wind Waker than have anything new.

He is though. Take Windwaker for example. He didn't really have much to do with the game. The team would just show him the game, he'd say "I like this" or "I don't like this, change it" and thats about it.

For the most part it was the same deal with Sunshine. Because of this I think Miyamoto needs to get deeply involved with the Mario franchise again. People seem to be ok with Zelda so I suppose he's not needed there.

  8. Just like musicians, movie directors, and inventors, video game creators seldom have more than one or two good ideas to pass along. Miyamato is a great guy and is a genius, but human genius comes in limited quantity for each individual.

His continued efforts are great, but I doubt he will self-create any game as amazing and original as he did in the past. And I hope he continues and at least attempts more great games since his kind of creative experience is hard to come by.

When else, besides Rise of the Robots, has a developer used the shortcomings of a game as a reson for a sequel? Nintendo's digging their grave here.
...and the world is coming to an end, too.

    Uhg.

  10. Well, we should all become developers and get a foothole in the industry so we can help Nintendo immensely get over this brainstorming hurdle that no brain, not even brains with 6 long legs, can do some cockamainy jump over.

I think Golden Sun and Advance Wars would count as new series, since they haven't actually been realised in full 3D yet. I would also love to see an Earthbound but I know it wouldn't be the answer.
